BENEFITING: Chinatown People Progressive Association Inc.
EVENT DATE: Jun 20, 2015
Friends and fam-
I am humbled to be part of the grassroots organization Chinese Progressive Association Boston that is committed to organizing with working-class tenants and residents against the injustices in housing, jobs, and their community. Everyday the elders, tenants, members, volunteers, and CPA staff remind me of the power and support we have as a collective. Our community and action continues to expand my heart and push me to not compromise when it comes to what our tenants, residents, and workers DESERVE. I cannot imagine doing any other work besides the grassroots organizing led by CPA, and am so humbled to be working with them this summer.
I am fundraising for our 11th Annual Bike-A-Thon to support the Chinese Youth Initiative (CYI), which provides empowering opportunities to high school aged youth in Boston- learning about Asian American history and activism, community engagement, projects in organizing, and internships. These youth have been organizing around getting Chinatown its public library back, voter registration, support for immigrant workers' rights, and advocating for public transit.
I remember my participation in New York's Chinatown Youth Initiatives (CYI) and how that time, education, and community has defined who I am today. I believe that the youth, their power, and imagination are changing our communities right now and will lead us in the future. Please support CPA, the CYI youth, and me by donating what you are able to- even if it's just a couple of dollars! Thanks so much for reading, and I hope you have a blessed day.
