BENEFITING: BETWEEN FRIENDS
I am so excited to announce that Between Friends has been chosen as a 2016 Purple Purse Community Partner! Sponsored by The Allstate Foundation, the Purple Purse Challenge seeks to raise public awareness about domestic violence and financial abuse. Because abuse often happens behind closed doors, it is important to understand the statistics that show just how many people are affected:
One in four women and one in seven men experience domestic violence at some point in their lives
99% of all cases of domestic violence include financial abuse. Victims are prevented from acquiring, using or maintaining financial resources. The number one reason domestic violence survivors stay or return to an abusive relationship is that they don’t have the financial resources to break free.
Domestic violence affects us all. It costs the U.S. economy more than $8.3 billion each year, is the leading cause of family homelessness and the single largest category of calls received by local police.
The Campaign starts on September 28th at 12pm ET and a total of $325,000 will be given away to organizations in the Challenge. The organization that raises the most will receive a $100,000 donation. And, second through fifth place also get large cash donations ranging from $15,000-$50,000. My agency is ready to raise as much money as we can so we can win the $100,000 grand prize donation.
As part of the #PurplePurse Campaign, Between Friends has its very own Crowdrise page (https://www.crowdrise.com/BetweenFriends-PurplePurse2016). Here, you can donate directly to us. Each gift, no matter the size, enters us into various contests sponsored by The Allstate Foundation. Every dollar and every donor counts!
Thank you in advance for your support.
