BENEFITING: BEXAR COUNTY FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER FOUNDATION
The Bexar County Family Justice Center (BCFJC) opened on August 1, 2005. Since opening in 2005, the BCFJC has served nearly 50,000 families in our community struggling with domestic violence. The BCFJC provides legal and social services in one place to assist families in San Antonio at no cost.
SERVICES AVAILABLE AT THE BCFJC
Intake Service: Specially trained professionals assist victims in selecting services from a variety of resouces available at our Center.
Basic Needs: Clients receive assistance with housing, financial aid, food, medical care, clothing, and other basic needs from representatives in the Resource Center (Dream Center). Additional access to food, hygiene products, and domestic essentials in our pantry is also available as needed.
Criminal Justice Intervention: The Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office Protective Order Unit assists clients who choose to apply for a protective order or obtain information about criminal charges. Trained Victim Advocates, Paralegals, Assistant District Attorneys, Investigators, and Office Assistants provide services to victims and explain the criminal justice system.
Civil Legal Services: A team of attorneys, paralegals, and law students interview and represent clients with civil legal needs covering a variety of issues. They also provide assistance obtaining protective orders for cases where the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office or Texas RioGrande Legal Aid has a conflict.
Chaplain Services: Clients receive intefaith and spiritual guidance and support services.
Child Care: Foster grandparents provide childcare for the children of clients accessing services at the FJC. Children are safe and content in a well equipped kid's place, while clients focus on the resources available at the FJC that will empower them to take control of their lives.
Counseling Services: Through Licensed Professional Counselors, individual and group counseling is available for adult and children victims of domestic violence.
Law Enfrocement Services: The San Antonio Police Department enables victims to file police reports, charges and Crime Victim's Compensation (CVC). In the FJC office are two detectives, a uniformed Officer, and a civilian Case Manager to assist victims with initiating criminal justice intervention.
Life Skills: Victims of domestic violence receive assistance with the development of the life skills they need to live independently and violence free. In the FJC Resource Center, clients receive job and education assistance, housing assistance, advice with financial management and connections to many community partners. These new connections lead to the establishment of healthy foundations.
The Bexar County Family Justice Center Foundation is committed to supporting the BCFJC in its mission to assist victims of domestic violence in their journey from survivor to thriver. With the support from our community, we will contibue to be able to provide the necessary help and education needed to break the cycle of domestic violence that pervades Bexar County and San Antonio.
A $10 donation will provide 2 clients with public transportation passes and basic necessites such as toiletries and food.
A $25 donation will provide a family of four with diapers, clothing, and a meal.
A $100 donation will allow up to 8 clients to receive counseling and/or utilize our Resource Center programs.
