December of 2014, we visted the town of Santa Cruz Cajola. Cajolá is a town of 16,000, located in the department (state) of Quetzeltenango in Guatemala. 93% of her people are Maya Mam. Sadly, Cajolá has a very high poverty index, 94% of her people live in poverty, 57% in extreme poverty (which means that there isn’t enough to eat each day). And because of this we are constructing a community kitchen which will allow for a place for the inhabitants to cook and eat. Rosa Vicente, is our contact here and is manning the construction efforts. Every dollar that is donated goes directly to the building materials needed for the project. Rosa and the local community are putting their own sweat equity by supplying the labor for the project.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, BUT TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE!
