100 Miles with Type 1
September 30, 2016
BENEFITING: Beyond Type 1
ORGANIZER: Beyond Type 1
I've had my Type 1 for almost 16 years now but it wasn't until 4 years ago that I started to understand what it meant to really live with Type 1. It wasn't until finishing my first 4,000 mile cross country cycling tour from Charleston, SC to Santa Cruz, CA that I learned that I didn't have to let Type 1 run my life. If I could bike through 13 states in 80 days AND still take care of myself and my Type 1, well then really the only thing stopping me from doing the things I wanted to do was myself. But just to be sure I went on a second 4,000 mile cycling tour from Baltimore, MD to Portland, OR just to make sure...and for kicks.
Beyond Type 1 recognizes that while Type 1 is a big part of the lives of all the millions who live with it every day, it isn't the ONLY part nor should it be. Living beyond your type 1 means still doing all the things I love doing; biking cross country for example. Winning the Revlon Million Dollar Challenge would mean that Beyond Type 1 would be able to educate, support, and inspire that many more people struggling with the many obstacles that Type 1 puts in our way.
That's why I am supporting Beyond Type 1 for the Revlon Million Dollar Challenge
