BENEFITING: BASSET HOUND RESCUE OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
ORGANIZER: BASSET HOUND RESCUE OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
EVENT: 2015 LA Marathon
I wish I was actually running in the LA Marathon on behalf of the homeless hounds that need care. I wish all dogs had a home and there wasn't a need for all the rescues that exist. Those are just of my wishes for our four legged friends.
I have spent the past 8 months working hard to form Team BHRSC and guess what? I found 8 inspiring individuals that wanted to run on behalf of Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California.
I have found that people who volunteer their time are the most selfless, dedicated, inspiring individuals. Team BHRSC has inspired me to raise funds for the hounds I love so much.
Every hound in my life has taught me something. Yet, the simplest and most life changing lesson came from Socrates (philosopher/hound dog): It is okay to love again, especially after you have been hurt. After losing my first two hounds, Opie & Daisy, I was devastated. I lived houndless for a while until my daugther talked me into getting another dog.
Socrates, Blossom and Arthur have truly become a significant part of my family. My hounds have rescued me. When Socrates joined our family, I started taking him on my daily hikes. One day I noticed our shadows, me and a hound by my side. And, that is exactly how I intend on living out the rest of my days.
Thank you for supporting me as I support the hounds of BHRSC.
