Team BIDMC is running to support many programs, including the Annual Fund. This fund raises unrestricted dollars that can be used immediately for a wide range of needs. They provide a reliable, steady source of funding for the programs that need it most.
In late 2016, I discovered I have Parkinson’s. My first instinct was to ask my BIDMC Neurologist, Dr. Boegle, to get hooked up with a clinical study that might be mutually beneficial. She put me touch with Dr. Simon at the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center and we found a study that both of us found useful (most folks don't realize they have Parkinson's until much later).
For years, I have run 1/2 Marathons and swore I would never run a full one, because of all the bellyaching that Marathoners did at the halves about the full courses. But now the prospect that, at some time in the future, I may not be able to run as well, or at all, has made me realize I was a fool not to try for it earlier.
When Dr. Simon offered me a Team BIDMC bib, I was glad it was by email; it’s easier to sound cool and collected over email than to have my face betray everything between fear (What if I run a lousy time?) and joy (OMG, this is really going to happen!).
I’m running for myself, for those who can’t run, and for the Movement Disorders Center at BIDMC (which is helping us all move better). Your donations support the Annual Fund, which helps programs like the Movement Disorders Center and other clinical research centers at BIDMC.
