I am a table captain at the Big Brother Big Sister Breakfast at the Oregon Convention Center on November 18th, 2010 (that's a Thursday in case you were wondering). It is from 7:30 A.M. SHARP until 8:30 AM SHARP + a little time to get in and out of the parking garage (or better yet hop on a MAX train). I am raising money for the event and looking for folks who want to attend! I have been matched with my little brother Kevin since he was 12 years old. This December he will be 17. How did that happen? Kevin is a high school athlete and is on the cross country, wrestling and track teams. We have hopes that his grades will improve this year and continue to urge him to pursue his dreams of becoming a doctor. There are 2,400 children waiting for Big Brothers and Big Sisters in the Portland/Vancouver metro area, including over 1,000 boys who need Big Brothers. Before matches can be made, money has to be raised to support the match. Each match costs $1,000 per year in support costs. It is one of the most cost effective things we can do to change lives forever right here in our own community.
