Big Brothers Big Sisters is about one-to-one friendships, but is made up of a community of caring, giving people changing what it means for children to grow up in Hawaii. Since 1963, BBBS has partnered with guardians, schools, corporations and others in the community to pair children facing adversity (“Littles”) with carefully screened and trained volunteer mentors (“Bigs”).
A unique service of BBBS is that each one of these mentoring relationships is monitored and professionally supported by a Case Manager. The best part? Mentoring really works! Children in the BBBS mentoring programs are 67% more likely to improve grades, 87% more likely to say no to drugs and aocohol, 75% more likely to finish high school and go to college, and 85% more likely to feel socially accepted by peers. With your help we can continue to change the lives of Hawaii's children for the better, forever.
