THE STORY:

Over the past few years many of my great friends became new Moms.  Moms, especially new Moms, deserve many cheers for the hard work they do, so I am dedicating my Idaho ride to the ladies who brought me to my practices, inspired me to get out there on the roads/ trails/ sports fields, and taught me how to ride fast!

The bike is the hardest part of the triathlon for me, so I will harness the toughness and bad@ssness of my new Mom friends to get me through it this time!

This iron-attempt, I ride for Jenny's Light - an organization that supports new Moms by providing valuable services and resources for those suffering from post partum depression.  My great friend, who I consider family, suffered from this during her first pregnancy and I want to continue to show my support by riding for this important cause.  Jenny's Light was started by Jenny's family and her sister, Becky Lavelle, a CA professional triathlete who continues to support women's athletics and this cause.  Please visit their site and support their work:  http://jennyslight.org/

During my IM Coeur d'Alene training, it has been an honor to race with my new Mom friends!  Isa and I did the Hot Chocolate 15K and the Alameda Mermaid Triathlon.  Colette and I did the Capitola Mermaid Duathlon / Triathlon and the Jenny's Light 5K.  Awesome experiences!  Go Moms!
