Stuttering is the involuntary disruption or blocking of speech. I invite you to join me in supporting a cause that empowers children who stutter to not let their speech disrupt, stop, or block them from speaking, but to move forward and stutter on with confidence.
My name is Corey, and I am a person who stutters. Bike/Hike 720 is my personal journey inspired by SAY: The Stuttering Organization for the Young (formerly Our Time), a NYC-based non-profit organization that helps kids rise above their physical, social, and emotional struggles from stuttering. They do this through groundbreaking performance arts, speech therapy, and summer camp programs that can have a life long impact on the kids they serve.
Since 2001, SAY has been using the theatre and music as a vehicle for kids who stutter to express themselves. Seven years ago, the organization added a summer camp program to establish a place where kids who stutter, along with their young relatives and friends, can come together from around the nation, kick back and relax, knowing they aren’t alone. Three years ago, SAY added speech therapy services in NYC, and last summer they launched an 8-week arts program in my native Chicago!
The organization has thrived because of its generous, big-hearted community of supporters. People like you and me can support the important work of this non-profit, allowing it to impact more lives.
In an effort to raise funds for SAY, I will again head out on a 720 mile biking and hiking adventure from Chicago, Illinois, to Camp SAY, located in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Last year, I made this epic journey and am so excited to do it again to help so many young people who stutter. It is my way to move forward. It is my way to stutter on!
Please join me in supporting this very worthy organization by becoming my sponsor. Thanks to the incredible generosity of SAY supporters, The Hadar Family - Eric, Allison, Anna and Ivan - all donations made to this page, by individual and corporate supporters will be matched dollar to dollar. So if I achieve my goal of $20,000 – that will generate a total donation of $40,000 for SAY and help so many more voices be heard!
