EVENT DATE: Oct 03, 2015
In November I'll be turning 60 years old and like most people my age 25 pounds over weight and living on the couch for the last few years. Fundraising: I must admit that besides buying candy ,cookies, popcorn and donating old clothes I have never felt driven to put myself out there to raise money. But, four months ago a couple of young bucks at work approached me about bike riding for a charity : The Bike MS: Valero Ride to the River. A 150 mile two day event to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis research, program and services for people living with MS. * Without hesitation I said Yes. So, four months ago I rolled off the couch and started working out, riding a bike and watching what I eat. In two weeks Oct.3rd and 4th we will be riding in this two day event. The Bike MS: Valero Ride to the River, presented by H-E-B is a one-or two-day fully supported fundraising cycling event benefiting the National MS Society. In 2014, the event raised $1.3 million to support research, program and services for people living with MS. Locally, the ride is a Choose your Challenge event with options ranging from 71 miles or the 100-mile century challenge from San Antonio to the Guadalupe River on day 1 and 38-miles or 59-miles routes that include a leg along the River Road in Gruene, TX on day 2. I am proud to report that through employee donations and a company match we've already raised $1,500.00. Thank You for your generosity!
