BENEFITING: MAG America
EVENT DATE: Aug 15, 2015
There nothing better than putting together your bikepacking gear and getting out of the city to explore the trails.
Well there is one thing better: Raising money for charity while planning a bikepacking adventure of a life time.
The plan is to bikepack over 1000 km in 30 days, covering Lao Cambodia Vietnam through the jungles, rivers and mountains of the most bombed trail in the world "The Ho Chi Minh trail". I will be Mountain biking and steath camping on all the way.
I will be funding this trip myself, all bikepacking gear has been sponsored and I will match the price and donate to Magamerica.org. This way I can reach my goal of $10,000. I am already here in Vietnam researching and exploring the trails for this crazy bikepacking adventure.
100% of money raise goes to http://www.magamerica.org the goal of $10,000 that will be used to clear 1.2 acres of land in Quang Nam Province. This province is located immediately to the north of the 17th parallel and the DMZ and is one of the most heavily contaminated in Vietnam. MAG has been working there since 2002 and during this time has cleared 1,095 villages and 2.2 million m2 of land of 75,000 items of UXO for the benefit of nearly 1.2 million people.
This funding will enable the program to continue its life saving work, clearing UXO from 1.2 acres for a community development project. Previous use of land cleared for community development projects includes the construction of schools, community houses or commune agricultural areas such as pepper or rubber plantations.
