BENEFITING: Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation
EVENT DATE: Aug 17, 2012
Biker for Balls is a 48 State Motorcycle ride to spread awareness of Testicular Cancer - the leading cancer in men 15-35.
"Biker for Balls" is a five week motorcycle ride that I planned in order to spread awareness for testicular cancer. I will ride across 48 states handing out thousands of instructional self-exam cards. With this campaign I hope to reach many and bring greater awareness to this horrible disease.
My brother in law went through a fierce battle for eight years with Testicular Cancer, while working, going to college, coaching baseball, being a husband and raising four young boys. He lost his battle in 2004, just three days before his oldest son turned 16.
While my brother in law was fighting for his life, my husband was diagnosed with stage 1 Testicular Cancer. Early detection made his cancer much easier to take care of, and after only one surgery, he is cancer free.
I was really surprised when I found the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation was formed right here in Grand Junction by Kim Jones, after her son survived stage 4 inoperable testicular cancer. TCAF has been helping me organize my awareness campaign and have provided the instructional self-exam cards.
My first stop will be in Moab, Utah with Just Nut-Up Motorcycle Tours on August 17. I will be raising funds along the way to benefit the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation.
