From August 29 through Labor Day, a group of several friends and I are riding from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. on the Great Allegheny Passage biking trail. I have had rheumatoid arthritis for the past 18 years but am so thankful for exceptional doctors and big advances in medicine over the years. Today, while still having my tough days, I have no bone or joint damage and am managing the disease well enough to try this 320-mile bike ride. That’s 65 miles a day through the beautiful mountains and valleys of Pennsylvania, western Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States. The Arthritis Foundation funds life-changing research and supports programs that help reduce the impact of arthritis so that one day no one has to life with the pain and disability caused by arthritis. Please support our efforts to raise awareness for the 50 million adults and 300,000 children who have arthritis.
So, I am asking as many people as possible to support the work being done to bring new treatments and to help people to better manage this horrible disease. Because I am doing well with my treatment due to donations over the years, this is my way of trying to help the many others that have much bigger challenges with the disease than I do.
Please consider making a donation no matter how small. Every $5-$10 helps…and of course larger donations of $25, $50, $75 or any larger amount are appreciated.
