Scott Bertha's Fundraiser:

Helping Physically Challenged Kids Become Athletes

EVENT DATE: Sep 21, 2014

Scott Bertha

Last year, I became associated with myTEAM TRIUMPH - Wings of Central Jersey, a ride along organization that takes physically challenged youth and adults on running races and triathlons.

As many of you know, this organization is near and dear to my heart, as my 11-year-old nephew Ryan faces challenges similar to myTEAM TRIUMPH's brave young running partners. Ryan has enjoyed coming along with me in many running races, so it is an honor to be a part of myTEAM TRIUMPH and fundraise on their behalf.

Together with Ryan's mother (and my sister) Deb, along with myTEAM TRIUMPH President Dave Marks, we will be tackling the 1.2 miles swim (Dave), 56 mile bike (my responsibility), and half-marathon run (Deb), raising money for myTEAM TRIUMPH! With the money raised we hope to buy more running chairs so we may give even more children the same thrill of crossing the finish line our Ryan enjoys so much!

Through my association, it was my honor last May to meet the inspiration of the organization, Dick and Rick Hoyt.  Dick and his son Rick are legendary (to say nothing for being in the Ironman Hall of Fame) with their six Ironman and 30+ Boston Marathon finishes, Dick pushing and pulling his son the entire distances!

It is with their inspiration that myTEAM TRIUMPH helps others, and we hope you will donate to this cause and root us on! The organization is a registered 501(c)3, and all donations are tax deductible.

Thank you for supporting us at this time and on race day, and in giving us the ability to serve these very deserving physically challenged kids and make them a part of our athletic community!
