BENEFITING: BILL MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
EVENT: Saving Pets Challenge 2016
THE STORY:
Bill Foundation has been saving dogs from LA area shelters for over 16 years. We are known for the care we take both in rehabilitating our dogs and in choosing their forever homes. While our mission is to save every dog we can "dog by dog" we have begun to focus more and more on dogs with medical issues and disabilities. Unfortunately, these dogs are the least likely to be rescued due to the high cost of care and often surgery. Because animal rescue is viewed now as very much a "numbers game" with heavy emphasis on the number of animals an organization can put through their system in a given period of time - dogs with even easily treated conditions like mange often find themselves in the "unadoptable" category and many wonderful and otherwise adoptable pets are euthanized due to the extra cost of treating these conditions. What's even more disheartening is that major grant givers have also shifted their funding to organizations who produce high turnover, making it even more difficult for foundations like ours to find the funding we need to continue our mission. So our goal for this fundraiser is to touch everyone we can who believes in the unlimited potential of each and every dog to bring love and comfort to the right adopter and who believes that even dogs who have medical conditions through no fault of their own deserve a chance at rehabilitation and adoption. Please help us raise as much as we can toward helping to continue our work of saving dogs and making people happy, "dog by dog!"
