BENEFITING: GLEASONS GIVE A KID A DREAM
EVENT DATE: Nov 16, 2013
A veteran hailing from Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Bill fought in Vietnam, where the fog of war was perhaps most pronounced. Never knowing what to expect from the guerilla warfare of the Viet Cong, he counts among his greatest accomplishments surviving Vietnam without bodily damage.
Bill is a man of many talents; he’s acted in off Broadway productions, some of his favorite’s being renditions of Shakespeare’s works. He’s also a talented organist, substituting at various Episcopal Churches around the New York area.
As a military man and history buff, it’s no surprise some of his heroes include some of America’s finest men: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Civil War General Joshua Chamberlain.
Bill’s draw to boxing is twofold; firstly, there’s the excitement but more important than that is the intellectual element, the combination of offensive and defensive strategy in which the mind must always stay focused and sharp.
In addition to the joy boxing provides Bill personally, he’s looking forward to getting in the ring on behalf of Fighters4Life because giving back has always been important to him; be it from putting his life on the line for country to being active in his church to boxing for charity.
