BENEFITING: SARATOGA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL INC
EVENT DATE: Apr 22, 2011
Tempered by Memory is a project near and dear to Bill’s heart. As most of you know, Bill and I worked for Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield with corporate headquarters located at 1 World Trade Center. We also have an apartment just four blocks from ground zero—a place Bill called home. September 11th 2001, and the year that followed, changed our lives forever.
Bill has taken a very active role in raising funds (total project fundraising needs are $196,068) for completion of the sculpture — a monument to the events of September 11, 2001 and a forever part of Saratoga Springs. The sculpture will be constructed from steel beam remnants from the WTC North and South towers. One of the beams was pierced by the nose of one of the planes.
We are extremely fortunate to have an abundance of blessings. The most meaningful gift you can give Bill at this time is a contribution to the project. A page for donations has been set up at: www.crowdrise.com/billoloughlin60. Of course, check/cash donations that evening will also be accepted.
The Executive Director of Saratoga Arts, the organization responsible for initiating and sheparding the project, will be at the party on April 22nd as we formally present Bill with the news of this collective gift.
Tempered By Memory will be completed in September 2011, with an unveiling on September 11, 2011.
With Love - Mary Ellen
