One day I was bringing my 82 year old mom home from 2 1/2 months of rehab for meningitis from an infection due to a spinal injection. She was completely dependent on my care. Two weeks later I had trouble breathing and went to the VA for a checkup. The next thing I knew I was in surgery for an emergency quadruple bypass. My mother was left unattended so I had to call on a friend to look after her. That's when the nightmare began. Most people are out of the hospital in 5-7 days after a surgery like that and back home healing. Not me! They made so many mistakes. The bottom line is I was in the hospital for a total of 7 months and couldn't go back to work for 18 months. I even had to give myself two IV's a day at home for six weeks. As a result of two major infections one being staff and the other yeast in my rib cage due to lack of daily testing, a collapsed lung, a major ulcer on the back of the other lung due to not cleaning up right after surgery I'm lucky to be alive. My understanding is they almost lost me three times but God had other plans. My ribcage did not grow back together because of the yeast infection in my bone structure. I now only sleep about 3-4 hours a night because my ribcage crosses and smothers me when I'm sleeping and I wake several times a night.
Before all this I was a successful businessman with a property management and a remodeling company. Being out for 18 months I lost everything I owned. I lost my home, my vehicle, and my businesses. I now live in a cheap motel one week at a time but I paid everybody I owed. I eat junk food like $1 hamburgers and burritos because they are cheap. Because of that and the medicine I take I have put on a 100 lbs and my diabetes is out of control. I try to work every day taking on every little remodel project I can. I can't afford to promote my business or hire a guy or two to help. I take every day as a blessing and am thankful for what I have. I know despite my problems I am a very blessed man. The Lord has been good to me and I am very thankful for all that I have. It has been a humbling experience. I have worked hard all of my life, given back to the community and joyfully given my tithes. Now I am on the other side of the equation. I refuse to take food stamps or any type of government assistance because I have always believed we help each other. There are too many people on government welfare. I know my pride is a problem but I truly believe the Lord has led me here. If so then I know He will open the flood gates and with your help I will get back on my feet.
With the money I get with your help I intend to get me a modest apartment, some furniture and cooking utensils so I can start eating properly. I want to hire a local dietician/fitness person who has offered to help me at a greatly reduced rate to get this weight off. The doctor says if I start eating right and get this weight off I will most likely cut out all of my medications. I want to be around to play with my grandchildren some day. The rest of the money will be used to get my business up and going again. I was a success once and I know I can do it again with yours and Gods help. There are a lot of people out there who need help. If you choose not to help me I understand. I only ask that you find it in your heart to help someone here. You will be blessed many times over for it and the greatest gift will be yours. I know I intend to return here and pay it forward. Thank you for reading this long plea for help and God bless you and your family.
I am not posting a picture due to fears of this being seen by some of my customers. No one wants to do business with a contractor in this condition. Please understand.
