Bills for Buckley
Organized by: Emily Elizabeth Mary
Buckley was found abandoned in Antioch, TN at approximately 7 weeks old. Starving and dirty, Buckley weighed only 1.5lbs and was covered in scratches and scabs. There was no sign of his mom or siblings, so his rescuers--Sarah and Heather--took him in. Buckley was treated for roundworms, fleas, and ticks, and tested FIV/FeLV negative. He went home with Sarah and Heather, who planned on caring for him until they found a foster home or rescue that could accept him.
Buckley's now been diagnosed with megacolon, which is an enlargement of the colon that reduces motility. His age means that this is probably a birth defect and something that will stick with him for life. He'll need to find the right mix of stool softeners and other medication to help him stay regular and comfortable, and the defect makes it likely that Buckley will have a reduced life-span. Although Sarah and Heather are still trying to get Buckley into a foster home or rescue where he can be socialized, most have denied his entry based on his medical issues.
Sarah and Heather are still fostering Buckley, who is now a healthy 12 weeks and 3+lbs. Buckley loves to play and snuggle, and will nap in front of the refrigerator just in case someone decides to feed him. Sarah and Heather are currently fiscally responsible for any medical treatment, which has already cost over $500, and will probably increase very quickly very soon. Any amount donated to Buckley will help get him the medical care he needs to live the happiest, longest life he can!
