The Keyport Yacht Club to Host Charity Regatta June 5-7 to benefit the RAINE Foundation
The Keyport Yacht Club (KYC) will host their annual Bill Volk Regatta June 5-7 to benefit the RAINE (Reaching All In Need Everyday) Foundation of Hazlet, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children and families in crisis.
The Bill Volk Regatta, now in its 15th year, is an annual event that combines competitive sailboat racing with fundraising. Skippers and crew from around the Raritan Bay area come together for two days of racing and help raise funds for a special cause.
Partnering with the RAINE Foundation, the Keyport Yacht Club launched the first “Sailing for the Bayshore” campaign in June 2013 to help people in the community who were struggling to recover from the Superstorm Sandy. Since then, the “Sailing for the Bayshore” campaign has raised more than $30,000 to directly help the victims of the storm.
“All of the money raised has directly benefited local Bayshore residents in a profound way, whether it’s filling over 600 backpacks with school supplies for needy children or helping families who could not afford to heat their homes during the harsh winter,” said Carolyn Andress, president of the RAINE Foundation.
“The Bill Volk Regatta is always one of the most anticipated races of the season and this year is no exception,” said KYC Race Chair Andy Oeftering. “We look forward to a having a great time on the water and supporting a great cause. This year, there will be some competition off the water, too. We’ll award a fundraising trophy to the skipper and crew who raises the most money for RAINE.”
We invite all skippers, crew, club members and friends to join us in our fundraising campaign and help surpass our previous year’s totals. You can donate as an individual or fundraise as a Team by clicking the “Fundraise for this campaign” button.
We look forward to a great event and appreciate all of your support!
About The RAINE Foundation
RAINE (Reaching All In Need Everyday) is a 501(c) (3) organization established in 2001 to assist children and families who are in crisis. Since its beginnings, RAINE has positively impacted our communities by providing food, clothing, and assistance during the holidays, along with other various necessities for families in crisis throughout the year. The RAINE team consists of compassionate, caring volunteers striving to make a difference in the lives of others.
In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, RAINE's reach and resources were extended to include the entire New Jersey shore area. In the days and weeks following Superstorm Sandy, RAINE was able to organize their "army of volunteers" to provide food, clothing, and other assistance to those affected, including serving over 20,000 meals per day to victims and first responders. For more information about the RAINE Foundation, please contact Carolyn Andress at firstname.lastname@example.org.
About the Keyport Yacht Club and the Bill Volk Regatta
Founded in 1908, the Keyport Yacht Club is located in historic Keyport, New Jersey on the southwest shore of the Raritan Bay. For over a hundred years, the club has been providing a superior boating experience for local and regional water sport enthusiasts.
The Keyport Yacht Club hosted its first annual Bill Volk Memorial Regatta in 1994 to honor longtime club member, William Volk, Sr. who served as a trustee and chairman of the race committee and significantly upgraded the club’s race program. On June 8, 2001, the club held its first Regatta to benefit a charity to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Now in its 15th year, the Regatta has been held every June as an annual fundraising event.
