Comrades and Community,
It is with love and appreciation that I write this ask. Our friend, youth worker, and crucial community member, Billy Navarro Jr needs our help. He is experiencing unexpected loss of new employment due to some shady acts by others. He needs our support so he can cover his rent, medical costs, food, utilities, and so he can continue to show up for folks he is also supporting. All of us are aware that Billy is a person who believes in sharing resources and sharing power.
The goal is to cover 3-4 months of the expenses listed above while he continues to take care of himself and seeks employment, so we are setting a goal of $6,000 while he is in this transition. During this period, Billy will be volunteering full time at the Shot Clinic and The Exchange to build up the programming and services that come out of these spaces, hopefully with the ability to make this work his full-time, paid work. Additionally, once he establishes employment, he will be applying whatever is remaining from the fundraiser to fund the programming mentioned above, just one of the many ways he is a “pay it forward” type of person. This isn’t just about supporting Billy, this is also about supporting the people and various communities Billy is surrounded by. It means that he is able to continue to show up for community - lack of employment and the stressors that come from it have an impact on physical and mental well-being.
He also will be manny-ing part time, taking care of youngsters of any age, so if you have youngsters or know people with youngsters, check in with Billy! Billy loves creative education, and his light truly shines the brightest when he putting those creative skills to use, especially with the young ones!
Please donate, pass the word, and join me in holding Billy up while he is going through this transition!
In love, solidarity, and on behalf of Billy,
