Bipolar is a tremendously challenging disorder for any human being, nevermind the impact on a child. This disorder is also extremely challenging to the parents and loved ones that are in involved in a life of any diagnosed Bipolar child.
Psychiatrists have looked long and hard at the total symptom profile of thousands of children diagnosed with bipolar disorder. From this, a compelling new view of the illness has emerged.
This new perspective provides what older views could not: treatment efforts based on proposed biology rather than unproven ideas, fortuitous opportunity, or slight variants of current treatments.
This type of research is part of a larger and rapid shift within the mental health research field. Hopefully it will not be too long before mental health treatments can be on the same solid footing as physical health treatments.
I hope you decide to donate to this very important cause. This is the only reason why I am running the NYC Marathon for the 7th time.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
