When you donate to the BIRMINGHAM FAMILY YMCA, you make BIRMINGHAM better through programs focused on:
Summer Day Camp: $250 provides 1 week of day camp
Day camp at the Y helps kids form new friendships, strengthen confidence and sharpen character. The Y is also working to close the achievement gap and reverse the trend of summer learning loss throughout Metro Detroit by including educational programs into all of our summer day camps. However, not all children have access to enriching summer experiences. The Y raises funds so everyone, regardless of income or background, has the ability to learn, grow and thrive at camp.
Girls on the Run/STRIDE: $150 provides 1 Girls on the Run® registration
These afterschool programs use the power of running to help prepare youth for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living with interactive activities such as running, playing games and meaningful discussions culminating in a 5K run. Youth in third through eighth grades learn a greater self-awareness, a sense of achievement and team building skills to help them become strong and self-confident. The Y believes that every child should have the opportunity to participate. Scholarships are awarded so that no child is turned away due to inability to pay.
Special Needs: $500 provides a week of Special Needs/Inclusion Camp
The Y understands the challenges that make it difficult for special needs individuals to reach their full potential and responds with services and support that help people to be self-reliant and connected to their communities. Our special needs programs provide a safe, fun place for individuals with disabilities to make friends and improve their overall well-being. Through adaptive swim lessons, personal training, swim lessons and social clubs, we are actively working to foster a culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
