EVENT DATE: Sep 10, 2012
Well, my birthday is coming! It is on August, 13!
And this year I would like to celebrate it in a special way and I invite you to join my party by making a donation to the cause, I am working on.
I want to stop the child suicide phenomenon, which is growing lately in my country, Moldova (situated in Eastern Europe, between Ukraine and Romania).
I am working on putting together a Hotline and Counseling Service, as well as working on launching National Network for Child Suicide Prevention.
What can be worse than a teenage kid feeling desperated and not having anyone around to tell that there is hope?
The Campaign will start on September, 10, International Suicide Prevention Day.
Welcome to join me!
The phenomenon of suicide was and is one of the most difficult issues, the contemporary society faces and it increasingly affects children worldwide, as well as in Moldova. We face the sad statistic figures, which show, according to World Health Organization that Moldova is ranked as 22 on the suicide rate in the world. In 2011 there were over 700 people, who committed suicide, 18 of which were children. Suicide attempt occurred among 48 children.
Recently our country has been exposed to series of terrible media reports on cases of child suicide. Only in May we had 5 cases of child suicide. For a small country like Moldova this is a lot!
It seems that neither media nor the general public, nor responsible institutions were prepared to deal with the quantity of cases, nor with the numerous content of news on the topic. So, there is an urgent need to start working on stopping this phenomena.
I invite you to join me in supporting this cause and would appreciate very much if you can share it with your family, colleagues and friends.
You can do it online right now through this website or by sending a check to:
