BENEFITING: ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer
EVENT DATE: Nov 27, 2013
I am fortunate enough to have everything that I need in life. When someone asks me for gift ideas, I don't have an answer ready. This leads me to feel that there is nothing I really want for my 31st birthday (aside to return home to my family).
On that note, please allow me to tell you about something near and dear to my heart: 1 in 6 men get diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Two men in my family have been stricken by the disease. If I also happen to "win" that lottery some day, I'd like to know I've done my part to make my fight as one-sided as possible, and continue to be around for my daughter.
I always notice when the pink ribbons and NFL uniforms roll out for breast cancer awareness month in October. There is no major franchise pushing fundraising for prostate cancer, and the baby blue ribbons go mostly unnoticed. In 2013, 30,000 women will die from breast cancer, and 30,000 men will die from prostate cancer. While breast cancer research received $600,000,000,000 in 2012, prostate cancer received LESS THAN HALF that much.
So, please, help me raise $500 towards prostate cancer. It isn't much, but every dollar counts.
