I’ve spent the last year working for GirlSportWorks (GSW) and have had the amazing opportunity to see how athletics can improve the lives of young girls. GSW runs a sports empowerment program in four different schools in the Cusco area of Peru. We teach a variety of sports to young girls, like basketball, soccer, track, and floor hockey, for example.
Over the course of my year working for GSW, I’ve seen our students grow in confidence and feel more capable because of participation in our program. These young girls not only improve their athletic skills, but their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment are uplifted as well.
A $5 donation can help us buy a new ball or jump ropes for class.
$10 will buy yogurts and fruit for a healthy snack at our Los Nogales or Santoni primary schools.
A $25 donation could allow 25 of our students to go to the swimming pool for the first time.
If you are able to make a larger donation--$100 will pay for eight new pairs of tennis shoes to ensure safety during classes for our teenage mothers at Casa Mantay.
Donations of $200 or more will contribute toward new sports equipment such as pinnies, balls and cones, or other enriching activities for our students, such as our annual trip to Machu Picchu with Colegio Pacca’s 4th grade class.
Every $1 donated helps GirlSportWorks have an impact on the lives of the young girls that we teach! Thank you!
