Another wildlife orphan baby season is coming soon! Every year by March 1st we start to receive little baby squirrels that were blown out of nests, accidentally cut down by tree trimmers, and found in attics across the region. Before we know it April is here and the raccoons begin to seemingly rain from the sky! We accept over 250 orphaned raccoons every year. These precious lives must be protected and given back to the wild. By the time May begins we will have baby foxes, coyotes, birds, mink, skunks, opossums, chipmunks, deer fawns, bunnies, groundhogs, beavers, and anything else that happens to show up! Our little organization will do all that it can to never turn away an animal in need. One way or another, we will find a way - even when it seems impossible to stay awake one more minute, pay for one more order of formula, make one more bottle, or clean one more cage.
We need your help to save these lives! We love sharing our stories with you, and showing you the amazing animals that come into our care. Without your help, none of it is possible. We barely get by as it is, but without your help we can't survive, and then the animals won't either.
Many of the orphans we receive will need medical care, veterinary visits, x-rays, blood tests, worming medications, vaccinations, IV fluids, tube feeding, and intensive care. We provide these services at the lowest cost possible with the help of Dr. Hallie Feagans of Family Pet Hospital in Sunset Hills, MO. but there is still a cost, even at a reduced rate. Vaccinations, medications, and all of our medical supply costs can be overwhelming. Here is a sample of some of our 2014 costs:
- 100lb Raccoon Formula = $2000
- 20lb Squirrel Formula = $200
- 20lb Skunk Formula = $200
- Medications to begin baby season = $650
- Veterinary Expenses = $1500
- Rescue Equipment for Volunteers = $400
Please help us raise the funds to get ready to do all of this again in 2015. Every year we reach more people and more animals, and our costs increase. We must try to keep up to prevent animals in need from falling through the cracks. With your help, we can do it! We MUST do it! There isn't anyone who will do it for us and these lives MATTER.
Every small gift matters and is genuinely appreciated by our volunteer staff and each and every animal we help. Please share our story and encourage your animal loving friends and family to support our cause as well. You can help us save lives, end suffering, and replenish our wildlife population.
Who could say no to these furry faces?
Thank you for your support!!
