Climbing + Community

The Brooklyn Boulders Foundation strives To positively impact our environment, inner city youth, and persons with disabilities, through physical movement and creative expression.

Here at BKBF we are passionate about spreading the power of climbing by making the sport accessible throughout all communities. Adaptive Climbing Group is the largest regional adaptive climbing program in the United States, with over 1000 participants in 2015, ranging from the ages of 2 - 72 years old. ACG is the only adaptive climbing program that services participants of all ages and disabilities in indoor, outdoor, ice, rock and competition climbing for 365 days a year. ACG started out in New York City in 2012 and has now expanded to Boston and Chicago.

The City Rocks program empowers students of low-income communities to develop self-confidence, creativity, and the ability to succeed through the sport of rock climbing and mentorships. Each year the City Rocks program pairs more than 50 student’s with volunteer mentors utilizing physical activity, and social responsibility to positively impact these urban youth to fight the cycle of poverty and low expectations.

Through partnership with local parks and conservancy organizations, we have orgnized park clean up and education events to keep the access to outdoor hiking and climbing going for generations to come.

In 2015 we have donated over $50,000 in climbing experiences to non- profit organizations.
