Black Market: Build a network of Black creativity
Organized by: Tana Hargest
The Twin Cities – Minneapolis and St. Paul – are known for scenic beauty, prosperity, iconic architecture – and the nation’s worst financial inequity between whites and blacks, the widest academic achievement gap, and dense poverty concentrations. Help fund the launch of Black Market, an artist-led initiative that will reframe conversations at the nexus of arts and social equity. We'll connect communities and cultural producers in meaningful ways through artist residencies, hands-on, community-centered art making, and art interventions.
Our work includes advocacy, movement building, strengthening alliances, community self-care, and creative empowerment. As we build new models to challenge the status quo, there are real costs involved. We need your support for materials and supplies, travel, and facilities costs related to actions, meetings, and our ongoing work. Please give what you can and encourage others to do the same.
