Black Trans Lives Matter Fund
Organized by: Cherno Biko
Who We Are: Black Trans Lives Matter is an international grassroots network of black trans artists, activists and organizers. It was created in response to record levels of violence. 2015 was our deadliest year on record and it forced us to come together and organize like never before.
Mission: Our mission is to honor the dead and fight like hell for the living.
Vision: We envision a world where black trans folks matter too. A world without violence, criminalization, healthcare disparities. We envision a world where black trans lives matter too and folks like us can lead fuller, longer lives.
What We Do:
A Network - We connect and build community with black trans folks online and irl. We provide intergenerational leadership development and support. We show up.
Victim Fund - We support many of the families impacted by anti-trans violence by fundraising for funeral expenses. We work with them to provide educational support and media trainings.
What We Need
Organizational Development - We need tools to scale up our reach and impact. We lack the technology and resources to effectively accomplish our mission. We lack the resources to respond to emergency crisis.
