Sister W/ Children Fleeing Abuse UPDATES
May 09, 2017
Dallas Battered Women Shelters are FULL . Pretty much always , as are the other long term shelters. So in addition to trying to escape at times life threatening danger from their spouses these women are left with little to no money or resources and to top it off many of these women have children .
Next time you ask " Why would she stay?"
Also ask yourself "How will I help her?" "Where will her and her children seek refuge?"
It's basic survival out here. A simple unpaid phone bill can put women in harms way on the streets. BWDL exist to try and mitigate some of that .. we try our best to find families placement in safe home and sometimes take them in to our own homes. These women and their children don't need another lecture , pussy hats wont save them , a facebook like or share wont cut it. It takes ALL OF US willing to making sacrifices for the safety of black women.
BWDL is a grassroots organization and are able to provide these lifesaving programs through the generosity of the communities we serve. No contribution is to small , and we hope you will think about making recurring donations that will help us sustain these efforts to save black women's and children's lives.
