BENEFITING: HARAMBEE FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2016
For the third consecutive year, I'm proud to support a cause making a difference in the world. This year it's my goal to raise enough money to support a student, Marion, for the rest of her high school career. Your donation (100% of the money) goes directly to her tuition and necessary academic expenses as she finishes high school in pursuit of her dream of becoming a lawyer. A donation of $55.00 covers all of her expenses for a month. In 2014 we were able to raise $2014.00 and this year I'd like to break that record by raising $2,016.00.
Like many of my friends and my entire family, Marion wants to make the world a better place. Marion is highly intelligent and has a number of academic interests ranging from the sciences to liberal arts. However, she speaks most passionately of the need for lawyers in her community who can fight the rampant corruption that plagues Kenya’s government. As a teenager, Marion is incredibly perceptive and clearly has a heart for helping those in her community. She dreams of becoming a lawyer so she can fight the corruption that continues to keep her family and her neighbors living in poverty. Marion is also an excellent athlete and is on her high school track team. Marion hopes that her talents as a student-athlete will provide her with a scholarship opportunity to attend college in the United States.
If you have any doubt about her gratitude and the power of your support, take a quick look at this interview with Marion at her home (especially, skip to the 2:07 mark): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxJegTYO9gc&feature=youtu.be
Marion was sponsored for the previous two years but unfortunately her child sponsor was unable to continue to sponsor Marion. Marion has a bright future ahead of her but needs your help! Please consider donating to help this bright young woman achieve her dreams.
Any money raised above the necessary expenses to support the rest of Marion's high school career will go directly to support the Rick Dakin Scholarship, which was created in the memory of Rick Dakin to fund higher education for exceptionally deserving graduates of high schools supported by the Harambee Foundation.
