Blake's trip to Peru to build an Entrepreneurial School!
Organized by: Andy Root
EVENT DATE Jul 22, 2016
Hi I am going to Lima, Peru to help build an entrepreneurial school for kids to give them the skills they need. because peru is a developing country kids in Peru start selling gum and oher things,to support thier familys at the age of five. this school will help the kids become better at selling the things they need to be more successful in supporting their family's. Iam going with an orginization named Developing World Connections. Please think about helping me raise money for my first trip out of the coutry to build an entrepernurial school for children to make a positive impact in their lives and community.
Poverty in Peru has its roots in high rates of illiteracy, a lack of essential services and inadequate agricultural resources and training. Many children leave school early to help support their families. As volunteers we will work hands-on painting walls, installing windows and doors and building fences to improve and expand educational centers for working children. These educational centers provide meals and teach students important life skills that will enable them and their families to improve their livelihoods. The host partner IFEJANT is a well-established, local non-profit agency working for the rights of women and children while providing education and support to working children.
We will be working with IFEJANT to add a 3rd floor to the Nassae School, located in Jicamarca on the outskirts of Lima. This district is populated by migrant families who have moved from different parts of the country to find work, leaving their children in the care of older siblings or other family members. Children living in Jicamarca have almost no access to public education, so the community has rallied to provide schooling opportunities. The number of families wanting to send their children to this school is rapidly increasing, and since present capacity is limited, a 3rd floor will allow for more student enrolment.
