B.L.A.S.T Building Lives Around Sound Truth
Organized by: Carlen Smith
Organizations that are run by or for youth can offer a lot to our community. Think of all of the organizations you already know about--you've probably been involved in some yourself, at one time or another. There are groups centered around almost every topic you can think of, with a huge variety of goals. Here's a grab-bag of examples: Boy Scouts,Soccer leagues, SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving), A student chapter of Amnesty International, A class that volunteers in the community, A teen advisory panel for a city-wide health organization. The Youth organizations is specifically to improve the community. The mission is to engage and develop diverse young people to positively impact the world. Their goals would be: Having a safe space for youth Promoting open youth-to-youth communication Multicultural bridge building Enhancing leadership development among young people. This will help young people to choose issues they find important, finding a safe space, and helping one another strengthen their community. The organization will help them gain leadership skills and a close-knit peer group, and it sends a positive message to youth throughout the community. My mission is to get our youth off the streets, to put all their energy into something positive and productive. We want our youth to stay out of jail, stop hanging around the wrong crowds & getting killed. We want it to stop but haven't created anything for the youth to take them out of those situations that can be prevented. Think about it besides sports & church our youth in this community has no other place to turn to. All I ask is to donate what you can and if you can't donate be a strong supporter of our youth.
