Blinder's Run for Brazil
Organized by: Ana Blinder
I'm running the Brooklyn half marathon in October, and will be fundraising for Laboratório de Educação, a local NGO dedicated to providing equal education opportunities to Brazil's youth.
In the media's litany of criticisms leading up to and during the Olympics, my family's country was inextricably associated with zika, crime and lack of preparedness. Brazil, once heralded as a bourgeoning third world country with economic potential and a growing middle class, is now struggling to right the wrongs of its corrupt governance. Kickbacks give those in power millions while Brazil's infrastructure, healthcare and education systems are crumbling. I love Brazil, and rather than scoff at systemic ineptitude and failed potential, or vilify any number of people, I want to help.
It would mean the world to me if you would donate to my crowdrise and help my country rebuild. I was afforded great opportunities growing up in the States. Children in Brazil should be afforded those same opportunities.
