The Blue Angels were in Smyrna Tennessee practicing for the air show on June 2nd, 2016 and one of the pilots crashed and died. His name is USMC Captain Jeff Kuss, #6 Blue Angel. He was only 32 years old and a husband and also a father of two young children. Even though we didn't personally know Capt. Kuss, all the residents of LaVergne and Smyrna love our veterans and love and enjoy the air shows with the Blue Angels. He was a true hero as he maneuvered his #6 plane to avoid close by apartments and other residents and buildings. This is just a small way we can all contribute to show our respect and honor this hero. As a tribute to honor Captain Jeff Kuss, we the people of LaVergne are blessed to have a brand new Veterans Memorial Wall still being completed right here at Veterans Memorial Park. We want to buy tiles for the wall to honor him and also a commemorative bench with a plaque to honor him. I have been consulting with our Parks and Rec director to help select and approve the bench our donations will purchase. It will need to be a bench that is durable and fits in with the complete plan of our memorial wall project. So if you loved our Blue Angels and our veterans as much as we do, please consider making a donation. No donation is too small, it all adds up. Thank you so much. I am adding a link to our Veterans Memorial wall where the bench will be added. https://www.facebook.com/Veterans-Memorial-Wall-731429043667655/?fref=ts
