I'm incredibly honored and excited to run the NYC Marathon this year with the Blue Card Team! I am running in memory of my kind and loving Great Grandma Ida who was a holocaust refugee and in honor of my inspirational friend, role model, and racing partner, Irene Hizme.
Through the Blue Card, we can help those whose lives were affected by the holocaust. They continue to be our teachers and role models. Never forget.
26.2 Let's do this!! :)
The Blue Card’s sole mission is to aid needy Holocaust survivors, majority of whom live approximately 200% below federal poverty line, by providing financial support.
The Blue Card is unique in that it provides both long-term ongoing support and emergency grants for basic human needs in the most caring way. Help is given in the form of cash grants issued directly to the client or to the provider of vital goods and services.
The grants are made for food, medical and home care, dental care, crisis and ongoing psychotherapy, health insurance, prescription drugs, personal emergency response system, housing, transportation, and various one-time emergencies.
In 2015, The Blue Card distributed $2,605,031 to nearly 2,500 Holocaust survivor households in the United States.
