Blue Elephant Water Project is a non-profit based in California focused on bringing clean water to the people in the remote villages of Nepal. We work in collaboration with the villagers to create a vision for clean water access in their communities. Partnering with the communities, Nepal based NGO's and specialists, we develop long term solutions for clean water systems. Our ultimate goal is to bring accessible clean water to everyone.
Please help bring clean water to the villagers in remote Nepal.
We were on the ground in Lapa, Dhading, Nepal on April 25, 2015 when the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the region. The devastation of the initial shock, and subsequent tremors, have further compounded the difficulties of access to clean water, shelter, food and medical care. An estimated 97% of homes in this region were destroyed by the earthquake (OCHA, July 7, 2015). Landslides following the earthquake and subsequent tremors, as well as heavy rains by monsoons (June-September, 2015) have caused significant damage to imfrastructure, loss of crops, and a heightened level of contamination to the water sources. Crowded communal living, living within close proximity to livestock as well as open defecation have all contributed to an increase in water borne diseases in the area. Our mission is to build long term, sustainable solutions to clean water access beyond the initial disaster relief response.
With your donation we can make access to clean water a reality for those living in Lapa, Nepal.
