We implement mastery learning approaches and international standards anchored curricula to assure all students are prepared with the competencies to thrive throughout high school and beyond. Our approach involves: (1) placinig students within the curricula based on their preskills (the highest level within the curricular sequences for which they demonstrate adequate preskills), (2) providing additional instructional time for students falling behind established targets (to ensure mastery of curricla for all learners), (3) teaching to mastery and ensuring students demonstrate compentencies before introducing new skills and concepts, (4) involving everyone in our schools in supporting student learning outcomes, (5) providing a seamless transition from PreK through 12th grade curricula, and (6) supporting biliteracy for every bilingual student. We use research validated curricula to accelerate student learning and achievement for diverse learners. Direct teaching of higher-order thinking skills is integrated throughout every subject within the curriculum. The intent is to equip students with a solid educational foundation that enables them to thrive academically and play meaningful roles within their communities. This includes maintaining a learning environment with a sense of community and respect for one another where diversity is celebrated. Our approach is premised on the assumption that students deserve: (1) access to programs that have proven evidence of effectiveness, and (2) enriched and stimulating school environments that support them behaviorally, emotionally, and intellectually.
