I am relatively new to the Morgan Lawrence Chapter, but it didn't take me long to figure out what incredible things the American Red Cross does....every day! The Red Cross is mandated by Congress to do two things: provide disaster relief and provide emergency communication messaging to our military. Our chapter is able to do this through a remarkable group of people....our dedicated volunteers.
One group makes up our Disaster Action Team and they respond to single family fires. It doesn't matter what time of day or night. When they get the call, they go, often providing emotional support, as well as a comfort kit and if necessary, nights in a hotel, along with money for food, clothes and shoes. This year alone, we've responded to 28 fires, assisting 80 people and provided over 40 nights in a hotel.
Our office volunteers are able to direct those who need assistance reaching their deployed family member through our Service to the Armed Forces unit. They also assist with our Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign.
These are just a few of the amazing things we are able to do at the Morgan Lawrence Chapter. I humbly ask you to consider making a donation to our chapter so that we can continue to provide a high level of service to our community.
