Bobbis Stroke - July 2013
Organized by: . . . . Wayne . . . . . Her Husband.
My wife had a stroke while driving on the turnpike in the fast lane at 70 MPH next to the center wall. I was passenger in the car at the time when I noticed she was unconscious and leaving her lane.
My wife was our primary income as a Nurse Practitioner. She spent her life taking care of others, now she is the one who needs the care. We need help with medical bills and therapy.
Insurance paid a good part of our medical bills but paid a different percentage on different bills and procedures. There is still a lot that needs to be paid by us, out of pocket.
Bobbi had 5 operations on her head and brain and many other operations they called procedures. A couple operations were around 8 hours long. She spent 5 weeks in the ICU, two weeks in a step down unit, and around 7 months in a nursing home. She was transported to and from the nursing home to the hospital many times for check ups, etc. Each ambulance trip was around $600.00.
One expense example :
Life Flight was used to transport Bobbi around 10 miles from one hospital to another hospital specializing in head injuries. That bill alone was $28,000.00. Insurance only paid a percentage of this bill. We owe the rest.
The money raised, after all bills are paid, will allow my wife to live more comfortable in her present condition.
I would like to do the following items for my wife . . .
Need to widen driveway for wheelchair next to car. We need a patio outside back door so Bobbi can sit outside in yard. Need bathtub with side door to make it easier for her to shower. Small ramps needed at front and back doors. Help pay ahead on house to worry less about loosing it. Pay off car would help. etc.
Any amount of money will help us in our present situation.
