Bobby Mann Recovery Fund
Organized by: Paula Riddle
Bobby has been my partner for 4 years now. I love him dearly and want to do what I can for him. He was diagnosed with Gilliam Barre Syndrome in August 2015. I will not try to explain it, but google it and you will find out more than you would like to know. It's very rare and happens to people for no real medical reason. This awful disease left him pretty much paralyzed with in 2 days. He was hospitalized after a visit to Newberry ER and an ambulance ride to Greenville Hospital. He was bedridden for 2 weeks before being moved to Roger C. Peace Rehabiliation Center where he stayed for close to 3 months. He does have insurance but if you can only imagine the hospital bills that accumilated over his lengthy stay. Bobby and I had to move out of our home into my mother's house that is handicapped accessible because he is still in a wheelchair and very slowly recovering. He struggles with using a walker because he doesn't have full control of the muscles in his feet nor his hands. This makes everyday tasks difficult. He's applied for short term disability with no luck so far. Bills are piling up and numerous accounts have been turned into collection agencies . I am single parent with a kid in college and can't pay for anything more than the household bills. We really need help. He wants to go back to WORK, hunt, fish, dance and all the things he loved to do before this crippling disease. He dilligently goes to out patient therapy and constantly exercises at home to improve. He will recover eventually, they say at least 90% , but could take up to 8 more months. If you can help in any way financially, we would appreciate it and if not prayers will be just as appreciated.
