My name is Bobby O'Donnell, and thanks to John Hancock, I will be running the 2013 Boston Marathon to raise money to help children affected by serious illness' at Children's Hospital Boston.
Since I began running two short years ago, it was my dream to run the Boston Marathon. Now, being able to run this race for a greater meaning is something that makes this prestigious race much more significant. I completed the 2011 Philadelphia Marathon with a great sense of pride and satisfaction, but my training for Boston 2013 feels more powerful; every time I lace up I know that running 26.2 short miles will aid the pain of a child.
As an Emergency Medical Technician the worst emergencies to respond to are those involving children. These experiences made my decision simple in choosing which charity to raise money for. Children's Hospital Boston is one of the greatest hospitals in the world and I hope that everyone can help them with a small contribution so they can continue to make magic happen every day. The dostors, nurses, and staff there are true miracle workers that change people's lives everyday. I hope that running this race can be just a small part in helping to make their job a little bit easier.
Being a college student at Saint Anselm College, I understand that money is tight these days, and it is an uncomfortable topic to ask for money. Please know that the money raised is instrumental in assisting the struggles of children in ways we could never imagine. I will be thankful for anything you can donate no matter how big or small because as I have seen, a smile from a sick child is priceless.
You can check my page here for updates or follow me on Twitter @BobbyODonnell3 for fundraising updates, visits to Children's Hospital, and training updates. Thank you for everything and I look forward to fundraising for one of the world's best hospitals.
All the Best,
Feel free to contact me anytime with questions or support.
Update: It was brought to my attention that some companies will match charitable donations; so if you can check before you donate that would be great! Thank you all very much for the words of encouragement and support!
