Me? Playing kickball? Maybe!
I started working for Tutors forAll last Fall and after being here for 6 months I have really embraced our mission: Tutors for All bridges the achievement gap one student at a time. Through bringing together colleges, public schools, and community resources, we offer underserved students the systematic individualized instruction they need in order to thrive.
What does this mean? A few weeks ago I volunteered to be a substitute tutor at one of our programs and I was able to work one-on-one with a 9th grade student. I'm not sure who was more nervous - him or me! We worked on reading comprehension skills and did some PSAT practice tests. Over the course of 60 minutes I watched the student blossom from shy and introverted to being fully engaged in our work.
That's when it clicked for me. The work that Tutors forAll does really does bridge the achievement and education gap one student at a time.
Please support our programs by making a donation to our annual fundraiser, Kickball for All. As the Development Coordinator, I am working hard to make this a successful event. My goal is not just to raise lots of money, but I also want the day to be enjoyable for all of our participants.
You know - a day of FUN and FUNDRAINSING!
So - Bob playing kickball? Well, if you want to see it you will have to come on June4 th to see it!
Thank you for your support!
