The Bob Scott Memorial Fund is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization established in 2014 in memory of Bob Scott. He passed away from cancer (type GIST) on January 24, 2014 after a 16 year battle. Due to the rarity of this cancer Bob sought treatment at many of the best hospitals in the country (UCLA, Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, Cleveland Clinic, Dana Farber, John Hopkins, and Fox Chase Cancer Center). Bob would not have been able to travel for treatment without the help and support of family, friends, and our local community. The goal of the Bob Scott Memorial Fund is to give back by providing others in our community this same support he and his family received. We help people with costs that are outside of what insurance would cover. And there are many! Utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, gas, parking and lodging expenses, house cleaning, and child care expenses to name a few. We can be a great resource for others in many ways and frequently receive calls from friends of friends asking “where do I start?” after they have received a diagnosis.
