BENEFITING: AMERICAN FRIENDS OF UN TECHO PARA MI PAIS
We have decided to combine the memorable event of our wedding with an opportunity to leave a lasting contribution on an extreme poverty community in Latin America. Together we want to support the work of TECHO, meaning roof in Spanish, is a youth-led non-profit organization that seeks to overcome poverty in slums through collaborative work between families living in poverty and youth volunteers across the Americas. www.techo.org/us
Help us fund the construction of transitional houses for poverty-stricken families or help us fund a TECHO education program for children living in slums.
The goals are:
- to improve scholar learning in speech and language areas, strengthening the development of cognitive and emotional skills of children aged 6-9 years. The program for a children one year is $150.
- to provide a safe place to a family that currently lives in houses made out of cardboard and plastic. Each transitional house is $2,500.
