Ken & Dawn via Crowdrise
July 28, 2011
Recently we went on a trip to Kenya to visit the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. (Ken is the newest board member) and we loved it.
MWCT works with the Maasai in Southern Kenya to protect the biodiversity in the large area of land just north of Kilimanjaro between the 2 National parks.
We travelled with a large group of friends and our thinking is as follows. If a large group of friends all donated and each got each of their large group of friends to do the same... well then we could all do something pretty awesome together. That's the theory of Crowdrise.
So we are asking our Crowd of friends to Rise up and help us.
We are building a boma, a traditional home, that is especially equipped for members of the community who are living with all different kinds of disabilities. It is expensive to build there so we really need your help.
Once the home is built, we also are planning to train the new household with beading and crafts that the tourists coming through the village to visit will be able to buy. Insuring that these new members of the community, who sadly up til now are usually hidden away in shame, feel that they have something to contribute to their tribe is very important to us.
Please make a donation. Please join out team and fundraise. If we all do this together perhaps we could all make a trip there together to visit the project.
