Let’s be real. Cancer sucks.
Many of you know that my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was in high school. After going into remission for a few years, we found out last summer that it had come back. Within a few months it had metastasized, and she passed away November 2, 2013.
But this campaign is not fueled by the pain, or the negative emotions that I experienced from my aunt’s battle with cancer. Instead, I want to do this because I feel indebted to the incredible amount of love, faith and community that remained afterwards.
As the title states, I will be buzzing off all my hair. My goal is to raise $3,000 by the end of this summer, the proceeds of this event going toward advocacy campaigns and cancer research through Susan G. Komen. The foundation acts as a beacon of hope to many women and their families, and I know this charity will take my small part and put it to use in enormous ways.
Although it will be a big change for me, knowing that this is all going toward something I am so passionate about, I see it more as an opportunity to spread awareness and make use of something that I’ll always have an abundance of! Thank you so much for supporting Susan G. Komen and women all over the world. And please spread this campaign by sharing this page with your friends and family (:
